Q. Do you own all of the rental properties listed on your site?
A. Yes we do, so you can be assured of the highest standards and quality.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your arrival date you will be charged $25.00 per condo, home, room etc. Within 7 days of arrival you will be charged one nights lodging. Specials, holidays and holiday weekends are completely non refundable.

Q. There is a possibility that I might have to cancel my reservation within 7 days of arrival or after arrival what do you recommend that I do?
A. We strongly recommend that whenever traveling and paying for lodging you should always purchase travel insurance, that way you will not be mad at us when we charge you.

Q. Can you accommodate special requests?
A. Yes. If you stay in one of our homes we will do our best to accommodate any special request that you might have, such as having fresh cut flowers on the table when you arrive or food or beverages in the home prior to your arrival. Contact us and we will do our best to fulfill your request.

Q. Do we need to bring towels or linens with us?
A. No. All of the homes owned and operated by Galena Rentals are fully equipped with bed linens, towels and soaps. Just pack your bags and enjoy your stay! If you're not staying in one of our homes contact the owner or agent of the home in which you will be staying to verify the amenities.

Q. We are frequent travelers and know that hotels like airlines have different price structures for the same travel itinerary. Do you also do that.
A. No we don't play games with our guests. As a family run business you will always be offered a fair price unlike other lodging establishments. A guest staying with Galena Rentals can be assured that another guest would not be paying $100.00 less per night for identical accommodation. We believe that the travel industry should have set prices for travel and not charge based on availability or the number of rooms or seats sold.

Q. I noticed that you are renting similar properties that Eagle Ridge and other rental agents rent. Why are your prices so much lower?
A. We only rent what we own. Therefore we are able to effectively control our costs and pass the savings on to you.

Q. We stayed in the Galena Territory before and were charged a Resort Fee. Is this fee charged by all rental agents?
A. Galena Rentals does not charge a Resort Fee. In fact we have no hidden fees. Our rates are what you pay plus applicable hotel/motel tax.

Q. Are pets allowed in homes?
A. Galena Rentals has one home that allows pets, 95 Heatherdowns is a 2 bedroom home in the Galena Territory. Please remember leash laws and clean up after your pet. A word of caution: your pet will encounter many smells, i.e.: deer, turkey, etc., that it may not be accustomed to smelling, so keep a good eye on it. Q. What is the Galena Territory? I thought the resort area was named Eagle Ridge.
A. Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort is located in the Galena Territory.

Q. Why did you stop using Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort as your booking agent?
A. As our site became known, we could not fill the many requests for homes. Therefore we slowly added more of our homes to our own rental program, then phased out ERI in early 2002.

Q. We previously rented a home / condo from you and now we do not see it listed on your website for rent. Is it available?
A. No, in 2007 we have sold some of our homes.

Q. Do you provide daily maid service?
A. In order to keep our prices low we do not provide daily maid service. It is available, however, at an extra charge, to be determined by our maid.

Q. I stayed at one of your homes. It was terrific, what a value! Will you be adding more homes to your own inventory for rental under Galena Rentals?
A. We are constantly searching for new options to better serve our customers.

Q. I rented a home once that was in poor condition. How can I avoid this again?
A. Rent from Galena Rentals. The homes that are owned by us are all under our direct supervision and are held to the highest standards.

Q. We loved our stay in one of your homes and want to give some friends a gift certificate. Do you offer these for sale?
A. Yes. We offer several gift certificates and can arrange a customized one for your friends or family.

Q. I used to receive e-mails from you about special offers now I do not see a mailing list link on your web site, what happened?
A. Because of the large amount of spam that we were receiving we decided to eliminate our mailing list.

Q. I used to book Longhollow condos from Longhollow Rentals. What happened to them?
A. They are no longer in business and were never affiliated with Galena Rentals.

Q. Is there a pub or restaurant at Longhollow?
A. No. There restaurants and pubs in both Elizabeth & Galena as well as at Eagle Ridge Inn. During golf season food and drinks can also be found at the four golf courses in the Galena Territory.

Q. Who is WorldMark?
A. They are a timeshare management company.

Q. Is Galena Rentals affiliated with WorldMark?
A. No but we used to have a working relationship at Longhollow Point Inn.

Q. Can we call WorldMark to book a Galena Rentals home or condo?
A. No.

Q. Can we call Galena Rentals to book a WorldMark timeshare condo?
A. No, you no longer can. Trendwest / WorldMark did not maintain a solid, stable working rental relationship with us.

Q. I see that you are no longer renting Longhollow condo's why?
A. We sold our Longhollow condo's.

Q. I called 411 and asked for Longhollow Point Inn and Galena Rentals answered I want to rent a Longhollow condo how can I do that?
A. Sorry but we sold our condo's to a subsidiary company of Cendant Corporation and they had no interest in purchasing the name Longhollow Point Inn and the assets associated with the name even though it was offered to them at a very fair price. What does Cendant own, actually it would be easier to list what they don't own. In short we kept the phone number.

Q. We are a company planning on holding a corporate outing. Do you have conference rooms available?
A. No.

Q. If I'm staying at Longhollow can I use the outdoor pool in the Galena Territory?
A. No. Longhollow is not in the Galena Territory and outdoor pools along with the owners club and marina require an amenity tag which is only available if you are renting a home from us in the Galena Territory.

Q. I'm staying at one of your homes in the Galena Territory can I use the indoor pool at Longhollow?
A. No. Due to insurance regulations you can't use Longhollow's pool. You do have access to an outdoor pool in the Territory.

Q. I really need an indoor pool and I'm not staying at Longhollow where can I go?
A. You have several choices but call first as policies are constantly changing, there will also be a charge. In Galena Victorian Pines Lodging has an indoor pool and spa 866-847-4637. In Dubuque Iowa Grand Harbor Resort & Water park has an indoor pool 866-690-4006. Remember call first.

Q. I've never been to Galena. How far is it from Chicago?
A. The Galena Territory is about 150 miles from Chicago's O'Hare airport. From O'Hare it is about a
2 1/2 hour drive which includes 4 tolls. You would take I90 to Route 20 W. (Rockford exit).

Q. How do we get to your homes?
A. We will provide you with detailed directions once inside the Galena Territory. We suggest http://www.mapquest.com for directions and maps for helpful maps. Also see our rates & information page.

Q. Is there a grocery store nearby?
A. Yes, there are several stores nearby. There is the General Store located in the Galena Territory next to Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort (777-2233). There is also a store in Elizabeth, IL east of the Territory on Route 20 or in Galena, IL west of the Territory on Route 20 by McDonalds.

Q. How far are you from Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort?
A. All of our homes are approximately 20 minutes from Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort.

Q. How is the skiing at Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort?
A. We think that it is excellent. It also has a good kids program as well as lessons.

Q. I've called you several times in one day and your voice mail keeps answering, how can I talk to you?
A. That's simple, we are probably taking another reservation. Just leave a message with your home & work phone numbers & your call will be returned within a short time, e-mail will be answered within 24 hours. We are open Monday through Friday 9:00 A.M - 9:00 P.M. Closed Weekends & Holidays. (We do sometimes keep limited weekend hours).

Q. Do you have a toll free phone number?
A. No. Our administrative office Chicago number is (773) 631-5253. Please only call between 9:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M.
We are open Monday through Friday 9:00 A.M - 9:00 P.M. we have very limited hours on Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays.

Q. I used to call a toll free phone number and a local Galena number what happened?
A. It did not make economic sense to keep these numbers so we cancelled them.

Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. Yes we accept American Express, MasterCard & Visa.

Q. When we got home we realized that we may have left something at your home. How do we get it back?
A. Provided that our housekeeping service found it you can pick it up from us or we can mail it back to you COD along with a $10.00 service fee.

Q. What do you charge for mailing back lost items?
A. In addition to USPS COD charges we add a $10.00 service fee. Typically the total fee's would be between $20.00 and $30.00 depending on weight. Our service fee is for our housekeepers time to go to the Post Office.

Q. What business names do you use in Galena?
A. Galena Rentals LLC & Longhollow Point Inn LLC.
